HOME - Tzaneen Marathon Club

The Tzaneen Marathon Club was established, as the first non-racial club in the Limpopo Province, in 1981 as a non-profit organisation to provide a focal point for runners in the Tzaneen area and to promote road marathons in this Province.

Tzaneen is the Sotho word for “basket”, which in its lush, panoramic location, is literally the “pantry” of South Africa, yielding an abundance of delicious fruits. The Tzaneen Auto Around the Dam 4 in 1 marathon follows a scenic route around the Tzaneen dam and crosses the dam twice. The route runs through plantations and tropical vegetation with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.
